Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)
LCA investigates all stages of the products life cycle from raw material extraction to disposal and recycling.
At each of these stages LCA measures the energy used, materials used, wastes generated, emissions released and other environmental impacts.

Three major results from the independent LCA study have been found:
  1. Carbon footprint
The carbon foot print is one of the general quantitative measurements used to gauge the total global warming effect. The carbon footprint can be defined as a measurement of weight calculated in grams or kilograms of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases emitted by a human activity or accumulated over the full life cycle of a product.

Aisacan™: greater than 50% improvement over PET.

  2. Ozone layer depletion
Ozone layer depletion causes changes to the atmospheric ozone layer which will modify the amount of harmful UV radiation penetrating the earth’s surface causing potentially adverse effects on human health and ecosystems. Therefore, Ozone Depletion Potentials (ODP’s) have been developed for gases that contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer. CFC 11 is used as a reference gas to represent these negative ozone layer changes.

Aisacan™: nearly 60 percent improvement compared with PET.

  3. Freshwater Aquatic Ecotoxicity
As can be easily understood the earths fresh water supplies are limited and precious resources. Minimizing the grave polluting effects of industry will ensure that we have clean drinking water for tomorrow. This category assesses the effect of a substance on a population and is based on maximum tolerable concentrations (MTCs). Translated to laymen’s terms this measurement tells us if we have destroyed the water for human use or not.

Aisacan™: nearly 70 percent improvement over PET.

The Aisacan™ provides better environmental performance in all ten environmental impact categories tested in the Life Cycle Analysis. We have focused on three important ones.

How does the Aisacan™ achieve these impressive results?
The most important factor contributing to the Aisacan™’s high environmental performance is the simple fact that it uses less material resulting in less transformation and transportation energy and resources than other packages.

Therefore, increased transportation distances and ever increasing importance to safeguard our natural resources will only add to the advantages of the Aisacan™.
